How to Disconnect Norcold Refrigerators
A refrigerator is a fridge, but for RVs on the road, they have to be a little bit different. Instead of using electricity like in a home, brands like norcold refrigerators use a combination of gasses and chemistry to absorb cold on the go.
The Norcold Polar Series of RV refrigerators are designed with an upgraded appearance and a more built-in look in your RV, thanks to taller door panels (sold separately). These door panels hide the hinges for a cleaner line and they’re easy to install yourself, so you don’t need to worry about making professional repairs.
Most of the Norcold refrigerators are also capable of running on propane or electricity, and they switch between the two depending on what’s available. For example, if the RV is plugged into an electrical outlet and has available power, it will run on 120vac. If not, it will automatically switch to propane. This eliminates the need to manually flip a switch to change modes – saving you time while you’re on the road.
If you are looking for a smaller option, the norcold one-door mini fridges come in a variety of colors and have a dial temperature control to keep your food fresh and cool. These smaller fridges are perfect for those who want to save space or have a tighter budget.
To disconnect your Norcold refrigerator, you will need to shut off or disconnect 120VAC (shore power) and then either remove the 12V fuse that supplies power to the fridge or shut off the fridge’s battery. You may find there are screws holding the fridge in at this point, so it’s a good idea to have one person hold the unit while another unscrews them.norcold refrigerators
