Fenbendazole Powder
Fenbendazole is a broad spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used against gastrointestinal parasites including giardia, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and the tapeworm genus Taenia (not effective against Dipylidium caninum, the common dog tapeworm). This medication can be given to dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, most reptiles, freshwater shrimp tanks as planaria and hydra treatments, and even seals.
This deworming powder is easy to use and effective for the treatment of a number of internal parasites in dogs ages 6 weeks or older, including giardia, roundworms, Taenia tapeworms and whipworms. It comes in a convenient powder that can be mixed into your pet's food, and administered three days in a row.
Your veterinarian may prescribe a compounded formulation of this medicine, which is made on a custom basis by a licensed pharmacist. This is done when there is a specific health issue that can't be managed with FDA-approved medications, the dosage strength your pet requires is not commercially available or your pet is allergic to an ingredient in the FDA-approved drug.
At regular doses, fenbendazole has a low incidence of side effects. In rare instances, higher than recommended doses may cause a severe reaction known as anaphylaxis. This is caused by substances released by dying parasites and can include facial swelling, hives, seizures and shock. If your pet shows signs of this side effect, seek emergency veterinary care immediately. fenbendazole powder
